City of Tacoma Observes President’s Day on Feb. 15

Administrative offices in the Tacoma Municipal Building complex (747 Market St. and 733 Market St.) and in other City of Tacoma facilities will close on Monday, Feb. 15, in observance of President’s Day.

The Tacoma Recovery & Transfer Center (3510 S. Mullen St.) will open as normally scheduled on Monday, Feb. 15, from 8 a.m. – 6 p.m., and garbage, recycling and yard/food waste pick-ups will not be affected.

Police and fire personnel, along with animal control personnel, will be on duty on Monday, Feb. 15, as normally scheduled.

Following is a list of other closures and service adjustments relating to the upcoming holiday:

  • The Beacon Senior Center (415 S. 13th St.) and Lighthouse Senior Center (5016 A St.) will close on Monday, Feb. 15.
  • The Cold Weather Young Adult Shelter (located within the Beacon Senior Center, 415 S. 13th St.) will not close and operate as normally scheduled. The shelter is in operation seven days a week from 6:30 p.m. to 7 a.m. through March 31, 2016 to provide young adult men and women who are experiencing homelessness a safer alternative to urban camping.
  • All Tacoma Public Library branches will close on Saturday, Feb. 13.
  • The Tacoma Municipal Court (930 Tacoma Ave. S) will close on Monday, Feb. 15.
  • There will be no parking enforcement by City staff on Monday, Feb. 15.
