Habitat restoration work party (fourth Saturday of the month) Lakewood

Are you looking for a chance to get outside and volunteer with your Lakewood neighbors? Or maybe you need to complete community service hours for your organization or club?

Our monthly habitat restoration work parties are a great chance to do both!

Join us the fourth Saturday of every month from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Fort Steilacoom Park to help restore the habitat around Waughop Lake and elsewhere in the park.

Volunteers should meet promptly at 9 a.m. at the historic barns near the entrance to the Waughop Lake Trail. From there you will walk into the designated location where restoration work will be completed.

Work includes removing invasive plants like blackberry bushes and eventually replacing with native, non-invasive species.

Please bring comfortable shoes, sturdy work gloves, and your own hand pruners/loppers. Also remember to bring plenty of water to stay hydrated!

This event happens every month regardless of weather (rain, shine or snow!).

Even if you can’t stay the full three hours, any help is much appreciated.
