The public is invited to participate in the eighth annual South Sound Sustainability Expo on Saturday, March 7, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., at the Greater Tacoma Convention and Trade Center (1500 Broadway in Tacoma.)
This free event allows participants to discover services and products from over 90 companies and nonprofits that address sustainability needs in the local community. Participants will explore a variety of topics, including local food and gardening, transportation choices, energy conservation, green construction, habitat stewardship, and other ways to participate in the community of sustainability. The event will also feature workshops on Square Foot Gardening, LED lighting, and Saving Our Salmon.
New this year is the Book-Movie-Music Swap and Goodwill collection site. Attendees are encouraged to bring unwanted media to exchange and other items for donation to Goodwill. In addition,attendees that bring a T-shirt, shopping bag or other fabric item will have the opportunity to screen print as a way to commemorate the event.
The South Sound Sustainability Expo is presented by the City of Tacoma’s Office of Environmental Policy and Sustainability, with support from Tacoma Public Utilities, Pierce County, Puget Sound Cooperative Credit Union and Goodwill.
