The City of Tacoma is partnering with local nonprofit organizations to collect gently worn shoes now through the beginning of August in preparation for October’s Domestic Violence Awareness Month event COURAGE: A Step in the Right Direction.

The donated shoes will be redistributed to people who want to participate in decorating and submitting a shoe that represents the theme – “A Step in Right Direction to End Domestic Violence.”

You can drop off your gently worn shoes at these locations:

  • Crystal Judson Family Justice Center – 718 Court E., Tacoma
  • Girl Scouts – 1000 Davis Place, DuPont
  • REACH Center – 714 S. 27th Street, Tacoma
  • Shared Housing Services – 901 S. 11th St. Tacoma
  • School of the Arts – 1102 A. St. #200, Tacoma
  • Tacoma Municipal Building, Customer Service Center – 747 Market St., 2nd Floor, Tacoma

People who want to drop off a painted shoe for the event can also do so at the above locations until 5 p.m. on Sept. 17. The shoes should be decorated to reflect the event’s theme. Please include your name and contact number on the bottom of your decorated shoe.
