Benaroya Art Collection Coming to Tacoma Art Museum

The City of Tacoma is pleased to welcome the Benaroya collection to Tacoma Art Museum. The collection was carefully assembled by Becky Benaroya and her late husband Jack Benaroya during their 70 years of marriage. It includes 225 pieces from local Northwest painters, studio glass artists and sculptors.

“The Benaroya collection will be a wonderful addition to TAM and confirms Tacoma’s position as an arts leader in the Pacific Northwest,” said Mayor Marilyn Strickland. “I join TAM in thanking the Benaroya family for their generosity including funds for an endowment, a dedicated curator, and a new wing for the collection.”

Mrs. Benaroya, who turns 93 today, selected TAM for her collection to ensure that the entire collection stays together and remains in the Northwest. The contribution to support this gift totals nearly $14 million. The public will get a sneak preview of this collection at TAM in October.
